{"id":3042,"date":"2026-02-12T23:38:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T05:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zoomshift.com\/blog\/?p=3042"},"modified":"2026-03-26T08:51:27","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T13:51:27","slug":"convenience-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zoomshift.com\/blog\/convenience-products\/","title":{"rendered":"Convenience Products"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what-is-a-convenience-product\"><\/span>What Is a Convenience Product?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In the book Principles of Marketing, convenience products are described as a \u201cproduct that the customer usually buys frequently, immediately, and with a minimum of comparison and buying effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Convenience products usually have low prices, and to turn a decent profit, they have to be sold in large volumes.<\/p>\n<p>Convenience products tend to have a widespread distribution strategy and are usually sold in outlets like supermarkets and malls.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what-are-the-types-of-convenience-products\"><\/span>What Are the Types of Convenience Products?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are many different types of convenience products. Some of them are more obvious than others.<\/p>\n<p>Some convenience products are food-based and include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bead<\/li>\n<li>Soft drinks<\/li>\n<li>Cereals<\/li>\n<li>Coffee<\/li>\n<li>Vegetables and fruits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are often referred to as <strong>staple products<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another type of convenience product are<strong> emergency products<\/strong>. Emergency products are purchased by consumers without any prior research because they&#8217;re needed immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples would be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An umbrella that needs to be purchased when there is a sudden downfall of rain<\/li>\n<li>A mobile battery when the consumer&#8217;s current one suddenly stops working<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The third type of convenience product is often referred to as <strong>impulse products<\/strong>. Impulse products are items that the consumer didn&#8217;t intend to purchase when they entered the shop but may have been swayed to buy by advertisements or seeing the product on the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of impulse products would be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Candy bars that you buy at checkout<\/li>\n<li>Magazines with attractive covers or headlines<\/li>\n<li>Perfumes that are displayed near the counter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other convenience products aren&#8217;t so obvious; items that can be easily misplaced or lost can be classed as convenience products.
