Goal Card

What Is a Goal Card?

A goal card is a non-technical term used by some bloggers and influencers that refers to an index card that you use to write down your goals. For example, if you want to increase sales by 10% next month, you could find an index card and write “I want to increase my sales by 10% over the next 30 days.”

Then, you can reference your goal card to remind yourself of your goal and keep your motivation strong.

Why Is a Goal Card Important For Businesses?

Setting goals is important to keep your business moving in the right direction. If writing your goals down on a card that you can look at frequently helps you stay motivated and keep your goal in sight, then it’s a great tool.

Essentially, a goal card itself isn’t important for businesses – it’s just an index card, after all. But what it represents – the goals you set for your business – is very important. Without goals, your business will just be meandering with no clear direction.

Tips For Creating a Goal Card

When setting goals, it’s often a good idea to use the SMART formula: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-based. In short, this means that you shouldn’t set vague goals, like “increase my sales figures.”

Instead, you should set more concrete goals, like “boost my sales figures by 10% over the next 6 months.” This goal is much more specific, and there are clear metrics you can use to see whether you’ve achieved your goal or not. If your goal is too vague, you’ll never know if you’ve achieved it, and in that case, it isn’t very useful.
